COURT COMPLEX, PALAKKAD
The courts of Palakkad have a history which dates back to the 19th century. The courts of this centre started functioning in the present building on 26-03-1959.The Hon’ble Mr.Justice U.L.Bhut, Hon’ble Mr.Justice B.M.Thulasidas, Hon’ble Mr.Justice T.Ramachandran, Hon’ble Mr.Justice S.Krishnan Unni, Hon’ble Mrs Justice K.Hema, Hon’ble Mr.Justice M.L.Joseph Francis, Hon’ble Mr.Justice M.N.Krishnan and Hon’ble Mr.Justice A.Hariprasad have presided over various Courts of Palakkad District Centre. Hon’ble Mr.Justice V.Chithambaresh and Hon’ble Mr.Justice P.Q.Barkathali have practiced in this court centre as advocates.
COURT COMPLEX, OTTAPALAM
The Present court complex building was constructed by the British Government 140-150 years ago and the Valluvanad District Court which was earlier functioning at Cherpullassery was shifted to this building. Eminent judges decorated the post of judgeship in ottapalam courts. Renowned Malayalam novelist Oyyarath Chandu Menon and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Madhavan Nair were some among the glorious Judges of yester years. They are followed by various eminent Judges who were later elevated as Judges of Hon’ble High Court of Kerala such as Hon’ble Ms. Justice Fathima Beevi, Hon’ble Ms. Justice P Janaki Amma, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice A Hariprasad. Hon’ble Ms. Justice Fathima Beevi was later elevated as the Judge of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
COURT COMPLEX, CHITTUR
Chittur station is having a tradition having more than hundred years. The jurisdiction of the Court is the Border Taluk with Tamil and Malayalam heterogeneous culture and it is basically an agriculture area. The court was established during the ruling of cochin monarchy innumerable number of legal luminaries have emerged from this Station. It is a concept among the legal fraternity that chittur station is one of the best civil bars.This station was sub court till the state re-organisation took place. Her lordship Justice Janaki Amma was the last Sub Judge of station.
COURT COMPLEX, MANNARKKAD
Originally the Munsiff-Magistrate Court, Mannarkkad was established in the year 1970 and started functioning at Ottapalam. Thereafter, on 01-08-1970, it was shifted to Mannarkkad with temporary facilities to the Taluk Head Quarters Office premise. Then due to the shortage of facilities, the Court Hall was shifted to a rental building opposite to the Taluk Office in the years of 1970. The present Court Complex with multi-court facilities was set up in the year 1990. It started functioning on 01-07-1990. It started functioning on 01.07.1991. Now both civil and criminal jurisdiction comprises of Taluk territory having a vast geographical area including the tribal belt of Attapady with 4 Police stations limits namely Mannarkkad, Nattukal,Agali and Sholayur. This having jurisdiction over 11 forest Stations.
COURT COMPLEX, PATTAMBI
The history of the Munsiff Magistrate’s Court, Pattambi dates back to the 19th Century. This court was established as a Munsiff’s court but it was abolished in the year 1900. In the year 1921,it was re-established and continued functioning till it was again abolished in the year 1932. The Pattambi court was re-established again in 1959, this time as a Munsiff-Magistrate’s court in 1970. This court was bifurcated into Munsiff’s court and Magistrate’s court in the year 1972. The court was shifted to the present building in the year 1978. The eminent Malayalam novelist O Chandu Menon has functioned as the presiding officer of the Munsiff’s court, Pattambi in the 1870’s. Hon’ble Mr. Justice M.N.Krishnan and Hon’ble Mr.Justice P.S Gopinathan have decorated the seat of the presiding officer of this court.
COURT COMPLEX, ALATHUR
The Munsiff of Alathur Court came into existence in the year 1862. The jurisdiction of the Munsiff Court of Alathur extends to the entire Taluk of Alathur . The court building was built in the year 1904. The Magistrate Court of Alathur at its primordial stage was functioning at the Taluk Office Complex of Alathur. Formerly it was Judicial II Class Magistrate’s Court. Subsequently the jurisdiction was elevate to the First Class Magistrate’s Court in the year 1992. The jurisdiction of the Courts extends to the parts of Alathur Taluk and a few areas Chittur Taluk, Alathur,Vadakkencherry,Nemmara,Mangalam Dam and Padagiri Police Stations come under its territorial jurisdiction. The Alathur Courts have the credit for contributing eminent Judges to the judiciary namely Shri.Ramakrishnan Nair as District Judge . Hon’ble Mr. Justice M.N Krishnan of Kerala High Court , Shri.V.K Krishnan , District Judges who are few of them.
